Mission

February 25th, 2012

This blog has as its focus the ethical study of Conflicts of Interest (COI), primarily but not exclusively within the university context (research, teaching, administration, etc.). The aims are two fold: 1) To reflect on and analyse contemporary examples of COI drawn from the popular press; and 2) To provide links to a variety of resources (guidelines, policies, literature) that can help with the identification and management of COI.

The blog is also the front page for a research group funded by Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la société et la culture (FQRSC) and the Ethics Office of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). We examine the ethical and policy issues associated with the identification and management of COI, in order  to contribute to policy development related to academic integrity and research ethics, and to develop practical ethical tools to help the academic and health professional communities better identify and manage CI.
